What is Student Success?

We know that every student defines success in their own way, and their goals can evolve throughout the college journey. Our goal is to reimagine how we support students at the University of Michigan — focusing on U-M wellness support, community belonging, and meaningful progress toward graduation.

The principles that guide our work.

Our work is informed by the Statement of Shared Values for Undergraduate Education at Michigan (pg. 9), which was first proposed by the Task Force on a Michigan Undergraduate Education in the Third Century (2019) and slightly amended for the 2024 Provost Seminar On Teaching “Undergraduate Education at Michigan: Forging a Common Vision.”

The University of Michigan community — faculty, staff, students, and alumni — is connected by shared values across all disciplines that enable us collectively and as individuals to be “leaders and best” and lifelong learners.
